Built for people who own websites, not audit reports
Most website audit tools were designed for SEO agencies. They hand you a spreadsheet with 300 rows, terms like "cumulative layout shift" and "render-blocking resources", and leave you to work out which of it actually matters.
If you run a bakery, a dental practice or a freelance design business, that report is useless. You do not need a metric — you need someone to tell you "your photos are too big and it is making your site slow on phones, here is how to fix it."
That is the whole idea behind SiteFaults. We run the same technical checks the expensive tools run, then translate every finding into a sentence you can act on without hiring anyone.
What we believe
- A report you cannot act on is not a report
- Every issue we surface comes with a plain-English explanation of what is wrong, why it matters to your visitors, and what to change.
- Scanning should be free
- You should be able to find out what is wrong with your own website without a credit card. Any paid plans we add later will be for depth and history, never for the basics.
- AI visibility is the new SEO
- People increasingly ask ChatGPT and Google's AI answers for recommendations instead of scrolling results. If those tools cannot parse your site, you are invisible — so we check for it.
Who builds this
SiteFaults is built and run by Max, a solo developer trading as Max Digital Studio. There is no team, no sales department and no venture funding behind it — which is why the free tier is genuinely free rather than a trial, and why the email address below reaches the person who wrote the code rather than a support queue.
It exists because the same problem kept coming up: a small business owner gets told their website "has SEO problems", pays for an audit, and receives a document they cannot act on. The checks are not the hard part — explaining them is.
How the scan works, plainly
Core Web Vitals come from Google Lighthouse via the official PageSpeed Insights API, so the speed numbers are the same ones Google reports — every report records the Lighthouse version and timestamp so you can reproduce them. Everything else is measured by our own crawler: 91 checks across performance, technical SEO, accessibility and best practices.
You get 3 scans a day without an account, and every finding is shown on the first scan — nothing is held back behind an email form. Reports are deleted automatically after 30 days. Where a check cannot be run honestly, we say so in the report rather than guessing.
What’s free during early access is set out on the pricing page, what we store and for how long is in the privacy policy, and if you want to see the checks before running one, the website SEO check page lists what it tests and how the score is built.
